Pathways
Company or Conservatory?
Both pathways build strong technique and give dancers real stage experience. They just focus on different kinds of dance. Dancers can do either one, or both.
Company
For dancers who love energy, variety, and competition.
- Competition teams that train in diverse styles of choreography
- Intensive rehearsals and regular competition performances
- Five team levels
- Dancers audition each year, and placement is based on skill level and goals. Not every dancer is placed on every team or style.
Conservatory
For dancers who love ballet and want to go deeper.
- Classical technique, variations, pointe, and conditioning
- Open to new and current Soma Arts dancers, who join at their assessed level
- A full ballet performed every December
- Pre-professional focus for company and concert careers
- Assessments are held at the end of each calendar year, at Company auditions, or by appointment
Not sure? That’s okay.
- You don’t need to want a professional career to join either one. These pathways create opportunities, not obligations.
- Many dancers do both. Company complements Conservatory and Academy training.
- Dancers can switch or add pathways as their goals change.
