About

The Academy is the foundation of our studio and where every dancer trains. It is designed for dancers of all ages and skills.

Our Academy classes lay the foundation for every dancer’s growth, and our pathways are designed to build on that foundation. Each program works together seamlessly, so dancers can participate in multiple pathways if they choose, supporting a wide range of dance futures while developing technique, artistry, and professional skills.

Company

Built around our competition program, dancers train in diverse choreography, rehearse intensively, and perform to gain invaluable stage experience and feedback.

Conservatory

A pre-professional pathway for dancers pursuing company or concert careers. Focuses on advanced technique, artistry, and the discipline of stage work.

Institute

Hands-on experience in teaching, choreography, and mentorship—designed to develop future teachers and creative leaders.

At Soma Arts, we believe in your dancer. Not just in their potential—but in their ability to grow into it with hard work, honesty, and support. Our mission is to create a space where every student knows where they stand, understands how to move forward, and feels supported in doing the work to get there.

We value open communication and earned trust. We’re committed to helping them become not only stronger movers, but stronger people through respect—for self, peers, teachers, environment, and words. We’re practicing accountability, decision-making, commitment, and a lifelong work ethic.

With strong training in the Academy and three intentionally designed pathways — Company, Conservatory, and Institute — dancers of all goals and experience levels can find their place here.

Q&A

How do I register?

Create a portal account, add each dancer, and choose their classes. Dancers are placed by level in each style, and the studio confirms every placement. Registration stays open throughout the season.

Can my child try a class first?

Yes. Every new dancer can take one free trial class. Request a spot on our sign-up page under Free trial class. Once the studio confirms, you’ll get an email with everything you need, including what to wear.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes. The registration fee is $25 per family, once a year, due by your dancer’s first class.

How is tuition calculated?

Tuition is based on your family’s total class hours per week, across all dancers and classes, including pathways. Siblings’ hours combine for a lower rate. Choose 10 monthly payments, or 2 semester payments with a 5% discount. Rates are on the Academy Tuition page.

When does the season start?

Our season has a Fall Semester (starting July 25) and a Spring Semester (starting January 9), plus a 4-week Summer Block in June.

What’s the difference between Academy and the pathways?

Every dancer trains in the Academy—our technique and choreography classes. Pathways (Company, Conservatory and Institute) are optional programs built on top of Academy training, for dancers who want competition, classical ballet, or teaching and choreography.

Do you offer classes for teens and adults?

Yes. Our Open Level classes are for ages 10 and up, including Open Ballet, Open Jazz, Open Tap, Mat Pilates and Yoga.

Do you offer private lessons?

Yes. Families can book open private lesson times in the portal. A private lesson that hasn’t been paid ahead is charged when the lesson begins.

What is Studio Sitters?

Studio Sitters (coming soon) is a supervised play space for children under 10 while a parent or guardian is at the studio. It’s $5 per child per visit, up to 90 minutes. A waiver is required, and a parent or guardian stays on-site for the whole session.

How do I withdraw?

Academy withdrawals need 30 days’ written notice. Refund details are on the Academy Tuition page. Company and Conservatory agreements cover the full program year.
