Academy
Recital
Overview
Our annual recital is a celebration of the work our dancers have put in throughout the season. Not all classes perform, as our training structure separates technique from performance.
Academy
Academy Technique classes focus on training and do not perform.
Dancers who wish to participate in the recital may enroll in the corresponding Choreography class, where a routine is learned and performed.
Combo classes (such as Ballet & Tap and Jazz & Tumble) will perform as part of their class.
Company
Most Company routines will perform in the recital as part of their season work. Participation may vary based on the number of routines in a given year.
Conservatory
The Conservatory presents its primary performance in a separate winter showcase. Select pieces may be chosen to perform in the recital.
Institute
Apprentices will present an apprentice-choreographed piece as part of the recital.
Costuming
At Soma Arts, Academy recital costuming is intentionally simple and streamlined. Dancers will perform in their standard class level colors; black, style-specific shoes; and a small accessory to complete the look.
